Updating the much-loved original style, the new Pilot Case includes enhanced functionalities for flying fabulously and practically
It’s been some time since we’ve been able to travel; no more brooding over holiday pictures from years bygone, while bathing suits and passports gather dust. From today, esteemed German luggage manufacturer Rimowa gives jet-setters one more reason to rejoice with the reintroduction of their classic, beloved style, the Pilot Case, along with a new, industrial campaign lensed inside a wind tunnel.
First introduced in 1994, the case earned its name thanks to its convenient ergonomics for pilots, delightfully slotting between the two seats in the cockpit with ease due to its accessible, toolbox-style shape. Beyond its aviator devotees, travelling professionals and creatives have relied on the case to securely contain their belongings, and Rimowa’s signature, high-quality designs are an enduring favourite for both their reliability and style. Shelled by its protective yet lightweight aluminium casing with vertical grooves and double-locks, the case serves security and durability on the often turbulent adventures through land and sky.
The campaign film, which sees a pilot enter zero-gravity with his Rimowa case, showcases the product’s versatility and endless opportunity in a high-tech film by director Albert Moya, known for his atmospheric and emotional short films. To a similar effect, the campaign images lensed by Harry Hawkes capture the case amidst the smooth metals of a wind tunnel. Suitcases have been devoted companions to globetrotters around the world for decades – endurance is key, and with this new re-imagination of a classic, Rimowa is on the case.
The Rimowa Original Pilot Silver is available in stores and online today for customers in the US, and will be released to European customers on September 1.
