Ten Avant-Garde Ways to Sparkle This Season

At this dismal time of year, sparkle is essential – a statement that the runways of A/W17 proved with aplomb. The addition of a sequin, diamanté embellishment or crystal accessory can inject a ray of light into your wardrobe, when such rays are in short supply.
It is also vital to approach this dazzling trend with a sense of the avant-garde. Sure, gung-ho Vegas showgirl glamour is a sartorial joy, but wearing sparkle with an edge proves far more arresting. Here, Agata Belcen and Nell Kalonji show us how its done in a series of images taken by Jackie Nickerson for AnOther Magazine’s latest issue.
1. Disorientating
Alessandro Michele upended our understanding of glitter by creating this head-to-toe mesh bodysuit. A bit space-age, a bit S&M, it sums up the disorientating universe of today’s Gucci.
