“I love the longitudinal portraiture approach. I have been photographing my two nephews, Radovan and Bohdan, since they were born, before I left for the USA. Then there was an eight-year gap when I couldn’t go home, but once I returned in 2018, they have been the stars of my photos again. I’ve taken pictures of these two boys in our hometown of Mikulov every summer since. It is so beautiful to see their boyhood, their rascal-vibe friendships, and their summertimes in a small post-Communist Czech town” – Marie Tomanova
