An edit of things to spend your money on this month – including some new collabs, some old classics and some very good photo books

Last week, London-based jewellery brand Alighieri launched its second men’s collection and it’s great. Spanning necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings in gold, silver and for the first time rhodium, the collection explores what it means to be a hero. Highlights include the ‘Torch of the Night’ and ‘Mountains of the Mind Necklace’ necklaces, made from 24-carat gold-plated bronze, as well as the ‘Clandestine Hero’ and ‘Fire in His Eyes’ rings, which are set with jet-black onyx and blood-red carnelian, respectively, not to mention the ‘Nostalgia of the Night’ pearl necklace. The collection is available to pre-order here.

Palace x Juergen Teller

Palace has launched a collaboration with the one and only Juergen Teller, whose irreverent photographs (depicting dogs, frogs and of course bare human flesh) are splashed across T-shirts, hoodies, tote bags, skateboards, and more. The collection drops tomorrow (9 July) at 11am BST – but don’t mess about because it’ll be gone before you know it. The collection will be available to shop here.

Bleue Burnham

Jeweller Bleue Burnham is a rising star on the London fashion scene. Striving to create objects of timeless beauty, his artistic, romantic designs take inspiration from the natural world and have already won him a legion of fans. Stocked at Browns Fashion, Matches Fashion, Mr Porter, SSense, and more, Burnham is this month launching a new collection called Grandma’s House, which promises to celebrate “the beauty of a grandparent’s home”. The collection will be available to shop here.

Nike x Martine Rose

Whether you’re a diehard football fan or the kind of annoying person like me who only dips in when England reaches the quarter finals of an international championship, you’ll want a slice of London-based designer Martine Rose’s ‘The Lost Lionesses’ Nike collaboration, featuring T-shirts and caps. Whatever the outcome of Sunday’s game, this will be something you’ll enjoy wearing for the summer of 2021 and beyond. The collection is available to pre-order here.

Molly Goddard

Molly for men! All I want to wear, basically. Fun trews, funky shirts and Fair Isle sweaters – and, importantly, sweater vests. What more could you ask for? The collection is available to pre-order here.

Photo books

Some incredible books have launched this month, which are well worth investing in. Jamie Hawkesworth’s long-awaited book The British Isles (Mack) is finally out, featuring over 13-years worth of portraits and landscapes from the British photographer – it’s absolutely beautiful. Phaidon has released an amazing tome of American photographer Catherine Opie’s work – separated into three categories: People, Places and Politics – which is really powerful. And another British photographer, Douglas Irvine, has published a book of photographs of the ‘pehlwani’ or ‘kushti’ wrestlers he met in Varanasi, India. Being sold to raise money for India’s Covid-19 crisis, the book is beautiful – from the images themselves, to the design and printing of the book itself.

Barbara Sturm

Ever since I was introduced to Dr Barbara Sturm’s skincare in 2019, I have been an absolute advocate (or rather, addict) of her products. Known for her innovative, science-meets-nature approach, her products are completely devoid from any toxic, harmful or aggressive chemicals, and make your skin look and feel amazing (think: glowy, dewy, like you’ve had a good night’s sleep and just come back from holiday?). She has a selection of men’s sets now, including ‘Basic’, ‘Super Anti-Aging’ and ‘Discovery’, in addition to a face cream – all of which are formulated for the specific needs of men’s skin.

Karl Lagerfeld x Kenneth Ize

Karl Lagerfeld has collaborated with Lagos-based designer Kenneth Ize on a collection that is launching at Browns Fashion. A meeting of two worlds (Lagerfeld’s and Ize’s, but also Paris and Lagos), the collection combines the icon’s black and white palette and the ingenue’s colourful one, in a range of ready-to-wear, gender-neutral styles and accessories – the latter of which were made from fabrics sourced in Nigeria. The collection is available to shop from Browns Fashion. The collection is available to shop here.

Dr Martens

You can’t go wrong with a pair of DMs. The beloved footwear brand has launched its Spring/Summer 2021 Made in England collection, which features, among other things, some super-nice suede numbers. The collection is available to shop here.

Dover Street Market

As well as an amazing Spring/Summer 2021 sale, there are some great things to shop over at DSM, including Jil Sander’s Birkenstock collab and Pre-Fall collection, Sacai’s collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier and new Nemeth. Head down now.
