First Chanel, then Dior, and it’s already a trend! Both cruise collections claim the return of the french look, made of Vichy and fifties dresses. Long hair and beehives confirm the name of the muse: Brigitte Bardot…

Colour? Pink. Main accessory? Bows. Length? Capri for pants, obviously, and above the knee for dresses. Think about the late Fifties and the early Sixties: a fresh air of optimism and a taste for la Dolce Vita; Capri and Saint-Tropez are the favorite destinations of fancy Barbie girls, wearing baby-dolls and an aura of confidence. Was it necessary to take these new Bardots to Shanghai? Is it not ironical to evoke these insouciant times nowadays? Maybe, but even if we cannot afford Dior or Chanel a little optimism won’t hurt.

After months of austerity (even in resorts), french houses offer a return to cliches such as la vie en rose. Revamping traditions and national trends has always been a smart move for fashion lines: so what are you waiting for? Pick a Bonne Maman marmalade at a store, go make your fringe XXL and shop PINK!

Another Bardot’s signature (and a typical Sixties signature, think about Claudia Cardinale!) is the foulard. Pastel is better!
