Built by Hardouin Mansart as a private residence for Louis XIV it is still regarded as the reign's masterpiece. The domain was only dedicated to leisure and reserved for the king's closest friends and relatives who wanted to escape the court of Versailles. The domain was entirely razed after the revolution. Only remains the main pond.
