Who? Lepape, Gruau, Antonio, Aurore de la Morinerie, Mats Gustafson and Francois Berthoud.

What? An exhibition celebrating a unique and never before seen collection of outstanding fashion illustration from the 20th and 21st centuries. The original illustrations on show include drawings from the collections of Chanel, Dior, Comme des Garcons, Poiret, Lacroix, McQueen and Viktor & Rolf amongst others.

Why? Put together over 30 years by Joelle Chariau, the exhibition charts the changing perceptions of this unique artistic approach from its origins as an advertising tool to the advancement and dominance of photography, through to its use as a one-off representation of collections by leading designers today. Reflecting the spirit and style of their decades these illustrations evoke a sense of elegance and glamour long associated with the world of couture and high fashion.

Where? Drawing Fashion runs from 3 November 2010 – 6 March 2011 at The Design Museum.
