Kabuki Fragrance, Byredo

Gypsy Water, 8g

Already an edifying process, the art of perfume application is exalted more highly still in the hands of Byredo’s founder Ben Gorham. Pooling inspiration from the stylised make-up of classical Japanese Kabuki theatre, now a new range of perfumed powders are delivered via striking black lacquered brushes. Mirroring the ritualistic transformation of kabuki actors in their dressing rooms, powdered iterations of the brand’s beloved fragrances Bal d’Afrique, Blanche and Gypsy Water have created made to be swept across the bust, behind the ears and tapped into the hollow of the neck for an indulgent moment, each click dispensing the perfect amount for an application. Plus, their materiality makes them the most travel-friendly of fragrances: there are no liquids here, thus no problems at check-in. The ancient arts of Kabuki and fragrance alike are now updated for TSA times. What more could you want?
