The AnOther and Another Man teams present their pick of the best pieces on offer at the store’s exclusive Market Market sale, open until this Sunday in London

“Dover Street Market’s ‘beautiful chaos’ – as Kawakubo herself described it back then – has transformed the retail market in much the same way as her label Comme des Garçons has the fashion aesthetic,” wrote Susannah Frankel for AnOther Magazine in March 2016. And “beautiful chaos” is the only possible way to describe Market Market, DSM’s archival sale, which takes place once every five years, the event meeting with the kind of anticipation befitting a sartorial solar eclipse. Subsequently, shoppers have been queuing round the block since the sale opened to the public this morning, all eager to get their hands on some Comme des Garçons, Junya Watanabe or Simone Rocha from seasons past.

The teams at AnOther and Another Man were part of the rabble of DSM enthusiasts, and once we got inside, there was something to cater to all our various tastes. So, without further ado, we present an edit of our Market Market finds. And with the sale on until Sunday this week, we wish you the best of luck in discovering your own.

1. Comme des Garçons coat bought by Ellie Grace Cumming, fashion director of Another Man (above)
“Vinyl, black with endless bondage straps from the Blood Roses S/S15 collection. It’s the Siouxsie Sioux dream coat.”

2. Comme des Garçons dress, bought by Katie Shillingford, fashion director
“I was really drawn to the pink rail, I think I’m going through a Molly Ringwald/Grayson Perry phase.”

3. Miu Miu coat bought by Sophie Bew, editorial assistant
“This purchase is so exuberantly Miu Miu with its rounded shoulder, bulbous buttons, huge square pockets and dandyish fur collar. It was singing to me from at least three aisles away.”

4. Noir Kei Ninomiya dress, bought by Agata Belcen, senior fashion editor
“It’s a black forest gâteau in a dress.”

5. Comme des Garçons jumper, bought by Holly Hay, photo editor
“Market Market was the best guilt-free excuse ever to escape my black, navy, grey, un-patterned uniform for a pink polka-dot jumper.”

6. Jacquemus skirt, bought by Maisie Skidmore, online editor
“You can’t really tell from the photograph, but this skirt is actually made of thick, spongy neoprene – the kind that adds a solid inch to your general circumference and makes you feel quite cushioned from the world around you. Equal parts wetsuit and office-wear armour.”

7. Comme des Garçons coat bought by Julia Hackel, photo director
“Don’t mess with me in this coat.”

8. Comme des Garçons jacket, bought by Olivia Singer, fashion and beauty features director
“Rose-printed armour designed for 18th century punks: what is better than that? Nothing, that’s what.”

9. Junya Watanabe jacket bought by Hannah Tindle, editorial assistant
“This grown up, patent version of a biker jacket by Junya Watanabe embossed with a reptilian print is something that I will now be wearing on a daily basis to pretend that I am actually a grown up.”

10. J.W. Anderson skirt bought by Chloe Grace Press, junior fashion editor
“This is the perfect iteration of a kilt that isn’t too kilt-y.”

11. Gosha Rubchinskiy jacket bought by Ted Stansfield, online editor of Another Man
“I like this jacket. Nearly bought it full-price. Now glad I didn’t. It’s quite American lumberjack meets Russian gopnik. (Lumbernik?) Something Jack from While You Were Sleeping might wear. Ура!”

12. Comme des Garçons shirt bought by Rebecca Perlmutar, fashion assistant
“I’ll keep this simple (much like the shirt itself): you can never have too many Comme shirts!”

13. Simone Rocha shoes bought by Thea Charlesworth, comissioning director of Another Man
“I was instantly drawn to these Simone Rocha gold brogues. It was reconfirmed that I’d made the right purchase when numerous colleagues commented that if I were a shoe, this is what I would be.”

14. Comme des Garçons dress bought by Beth Mingay, photographic producer
“Red velvet cupcake meets geometric playpark. Excellent.”

15. Simone Rocha dress bought by Rosie Arkell-Palmer, fashion assistant
“Because sometimes I just want to be a fairy princess!”

Market Market is open at The Store Studios, 180 The Strand, WC2H 3DA until Sunday May 14, 2017.
