Oli Burslem has the rare ability to make you look twice. A louche, magnetic presence amplified by fiendishly good looks – and that’s before he’s opened his Jagger-esque jaw and launched into a crazed, sonic tirade as the frontman of Brutalist rock band Yak.
Distinctively fiery and warped with psychedelia, Yak’s signature sound is a progressive attack on the senses – transformative, even. Which is why 27-year-old Burslem, together with flippy-haired bassist Andy Jones and drummer Elliot Rawson, are fast becoming the most talked about musical outfit of 2016.
