This week's Most Loved objects offer a masterclass in luxurious novelty and covetable kitchenware

Marvelling at unique objects – whether obscure, outrageous or resolutely beautiful – is a favoured past-time of AnOther, as our burgeoning @anotherloves steam attests. Below, in no certain order, are five of this week's standout items that proved especially worthy of a double tap.

We defy you to find a chicer companion than this excellent elephant bag from Loewe's irreverent Resort 2016 collection. Harking back to the house's early roots as a purveyor of fine leather goods, J.W. Anderson's playful (but cleverly un-kitsch) creations are deftly handcrafted in Spain. In fact, you can watch a fun, informative YouTube video of their skillful manifestation here.

This ceramic masterpiece, produced by Picasso and titled Visage No. 192, caught the eye of AnOther's assistant editor, Maisie Skidmore, who explains of her choice: "I love Picasso because he was the ultimate disciplinarian – whipping up magnificent canvases bearing the likes of Les Demoiselles d’Avignon by day, and then turning his masterful hands to clay (a traditionally female medium, no less) by night. What’s not to love about that? This is one of my favourites of his pieces for its cheeky simplicity – it’s kind of like a ’fuck you’ to art industry snobs in the form of a big, gorgeous moon face. If it was mine I’d put it in pride of place on the living room wall and then build up a collection of similarly brilliant plates around it. It’s time to reclaim crockery as art from grandmas countrywide."

Designed by Belgium-born, London-based fine jewellers Wouter & Hendrix, this intricate brooch boasts a carefully cast, golden crow's foot clasping an aptly egg-shaped pearl. "I'm not usually a big fan of brooches," explains AnOther Lover Fiona Cook, "but this one is so modern – beautiful but not pretty, fun but also slightly sinister and you can't go wrong with a combination of gold and pearl."

Who in their right mind wouldn't want a pair of pompom covered shoes? As Lover Holly Hay notes, "How could these not cheer you up, even on the greyest of February mornings? Alex Eagle can find things you didn't even know you wanted and would have to travel the world to find." The creation of innovative Istanbul design collective Sanayi 313, head to Eagle's Walton Street store to get your hands on these admirably tactile slippers.

An iconic symbol of 80s design, this espresso coffee maker from Alessi was dreamed up by lauded Italian architect Aldo Rossi at the beginning of the decade and was his first mass-produced piece. It was a huge success, and remains one of the brand's most popular products. Available in two sizes to suit your household coffee consumption, the angular handle and conical lid make it a superbly sculptural asset to any kitchen.
