Lipstick Queen's Frog Prince Lipstick

Jess Bonham and Anna Lomax apply their brilliantly playful, graphic take on film to showcase the Frog Prince lipstick

Phallic symbolism has an enduring presence throughout cultural history; from the Greek mythology of Hermes and its ubiquity throughout ancient Rome, all the way through to Vivienne Westwood's Erotic Zones show (which included shoes trimmed with vibrators in a spoof on 15th century pointed-toe poulaines). For their interpretation of Lipstick Queen's Frog Prince lipstick, creative duo Jess Bonham and Anna Lomax teamed up to offer their own playful, graphic twist on the theme in an animated video exclusively for AnOther. "We really liked the simple idea of lipstick going in and out," explained Lomax. "As a little moment in time, it's so phallic and sexy; a little bit of filth and humour." It is this explicit allusion paired with Bonham's crisp photography and a candy-coloured palette that makes their video so disarming; a sugar-sweet, tongue-in-cheek interpretation of a motion as old as mankind.

Ever since finishing university together in Brighton, Jess Bonham and Anna Lomax have been collaborating in their creation of brilliantly playful yet unquestionably chic imagery. Photographer Bonham's clean aesthetic teamed with Lomax's penchant for "stuff that has quite a British sense of humour" results in consistently witty yet visually harmonious imagery that has gained them a glowing reputation across the creative fields. With plenty of laser cut MDF and meticulous use of mirrors, here they have given a whole new meaning to AnOther's Object of Desire. The lipstick itself is emerald green on first encounter, but the shocking shade transforms into a magical rosebud colour upon contact with the lips. The colour is different for everyone as it adapts to a wearer's pH and natural colouring, while Vitamin E and Shea Butter keep lips soft and hydrated.
