We look at Coach's Drifter Shoulder Bag through the monochromatic lens of Bibi Cornejo Borthwick

The daughter of London-born photographer Mark Borthwick and Chilean fashion designer Maria Cornejo, Bibi Cornejo Borthwick has grown up surrounded by both the creation of fashion images and the objects that they depict. However, the 23-year-old New Yorker's photography has earned her industry respect independent of her lineage; her images (often monochramatic, often sequenced) have an atmospheric intrigue and captivating narrative that can particularly be seen in her work with icons like Solange Knowles and Genesis P'Orridge. Here, we asked her to document her interpretation of Coach's Drifter Shoulder Bag from their S/S15 collection – and explain a little about her inspiration.

"When I hear object of desire, I don’t think about colour; I think about the form, about the shape of the object. And, because my mum is a designer, I think I have an appreciation for the construction of clothing and bags and shoes so I wanted to photograph the bag in a way where you’re able to see those elements, to really see the detail. I also really like putting two shots in each frame, because you can create a story out of the image – on the one side, you can have a broader shot and the other side you can have a detail shot. I think that so much photography can appear dead and it’s nice to tell a story, offer some emotion and the opportunity to create your own sort of journey through the images.”
