"Carolyn Massey’s Spring Summer 2011 collection has been influenced by two books; Un-Fashion by Tibor Kalman and Farm by Jackie Nicolson."

Inspired by the unaffected and natural approach to masculine dressing depicted in both, Carolyn’s latest collection also gives a distinct nod to the east, with a taste of “functional wrapping”. At the same time she retains her eye for the quintessentially English in menswear tailoring, signed off with her signature ribbon detailing which runs through all the pieces.

Un-Fashion collects images from around the world representing how people dress – from body paint to ceremonial clothing to Elvis impersonators – correlated by the man behind United Colors of Benetton magazine, social activist Tibor Kalman, prior to his death in 1999. Similarly, Farm by Jackie Nicholson depicts African people wrapped in eye catching materials and creating outfits with innovative precision. Massey looks to bring some of these exotic elements to her signature, traditionally British menswear style.
