As clouds fill the skies, Andrew Blyszak wins the Loves vote with a guide to getting out of here

How to disappear is the art we all want to learn. Whether for getting out of a tight spot, or making the last word in an argument all the more dramatic, it would be an invaluable skill. And now, at last, AnOther Loves has tracked down a handbook – the essential guide to making a swift and instantaneous exit. Loved by brand strategist Andrew Blyszak, its popularity on the Loves stream probably speaks less of true belief in its tenets than of ennui at the gloomy weather, but we’re enjoying the fantasy all the same.

Fantasy is what this time of year is all about. Plodding about with wet feet and inevitably broken umbrellas, our mental screensavers are Tulum beaches, California’s open road and Verbier ski slopes. Reality is the worst place to be hanging out right now – everyone wants to disappear. Even the thought of Christmas, with the promise of fires, presents and misguided excesses, is not quite enough to keep us content in the present. So before we order the book and settle down in earnest to learn the art of vanishment, we asked Blyszak where he would disappear to and to name his favourite vanishing act.

Why did you love this book?
The book's tag line 'Vanishment Made Easy'. Brilliant.

Where would you keep it if you owned it?
Haha. My bedside table, just in case.

Who would you give it to as a present?
Those black dots on the rolodex.

Where would you like to disappear to?
An oasis with just me and the company of multiple pet dogs.

If you wrote a book, what would it be called, and who would it be dedicated to?
BLYcore and dedicated to the three people I value most.

What is your favourite vanishing act in popular culture?
Jean Shrimpton retiring to Cornwall in the 70s. Almost without trace.

What are you looking forward to about December?
The formidable yearly Christmas party hosted by Carmen Haid.

What was the last thing you bought?
New York by Gabriele Croppi. My new favourite book from fittingly favourite NY bookstore, Dashwood Books.
