As summer sunshine hits the city – as it did last week in London when temperatures reached 29°C – panic sets in as we all desperately try to find something to wear. Cue sunglasses, wide-brimmed caps, sleeveless dresses, bikinis and sandals on the AnOther Loves stream, as our Lovers frantically scour fashion websites for summer finds. It is therefore unsurprising that this week's AnOther Lover is junior art director at Simmonds Ltd Kate Swingler with her Givenchy S/S12 Sandals.

Vanishing images of unsightly Crocs, bulky walking sandals and plastic poolside slip-ons, these Givenchy S/S12 women’s patent leather pointed sandals are the ultimate in chic summer footwear. Renowned for its darkly romantic designs and exquisite attention to detail, the house of Givenchy – under the direction of Riccardo Tisci who celebrated his 38th birthday yesterday – creates clothes for the strong and sexy femme fatale. While it may be harder to achieve the full S/S12 Givenchy look (sharp tailoring with eel skin, shark and stingray trims) these Givenchy sandals add the perfect amount of provocation and sophisticated goth to any summer outfit.

Elsewhere on the S/S12 catwalk, sandals appeared in the varied form of Nicholas Kirkwood for Meadham Kirchhoff’s platform, glittered and fluffy sandals; Christopher Kane’s brocade pool sandals; Prada’s 1950s automotive-inspired flame sandals; and Chanel’s strappy thong sandals.

Here we speak to Swingler about why she chose to Love these Givenchy sandals, what she would wear them with and her summer essentials...

What made you choose to love these Givenchy Women’s Patent Leather Pointed Sandals?
I saw them and instantly wanted them on my feet. They are the perfect summer city sandal. Sturdy, shiny and a super flattering shape.

Are you a fan of Givenchy, if so what is it that you particularly like about the fashion house?
Tisci's work for Givenchy is so clever. I really love it – he's got a great way of mixing brutality and cool with couture delicacy. The couture tecno punk bling worn by Claire Boucher [Grimes] for the April cover of Dazed & Confused was immense.

What would you wear them with if you owned them?
A pair of white Levis ripped shorts and a tan. Or Céline's fluro fuchsia pink trousers.

Do you have any favourite sandals?
I have some silver metallic numbers at the moment that I'm fond of, but you can't beat a worn out pair of grey Menorcan abarcas.

What are your summer essentials?
A white tee, my bike, Guerlains's tan prolonging serum, newly discovered YSL glossy lip stain (stains without drying out), and my Wang by Linda Farrow sunnies.

Where is your favourite place to go in the summer and what is your favourite thing to do?
I'm a total water baby so my favourite place to go in the summer is the Red Sea and check out the fish – I have bits all over my room from things I've found on the bottom of the sea.

Other than these Givenchy sandals what is on your summer wardrobe wish list?
Proenza Schouler's beach towel! Illesteva horn sunnies and the striped fluro and grey bikini from Cos.

What is your summer soundtrack?
I've been playing these a lot this week: Mister Lies by Cleam; Purity Ring by Lofticries; Chromatics by Back from the Grave.
