The Palace of Versailles was home to the royal court and the social scene for over a century from 1682, including government officials, couturiers and Louis XIV. Louis moved there from the centre of Paris to what was originally a hunting lodge – under his guidance, it became one of the largest palaces in the world. The palace is now going through a twenty-five year restoration period, which is represented in Parcours Muséologique Revisité. Polidori's photographs show holes in the walls, bare floors and scaffolding, a direct to the contrast of the grandeur that once was.
