Celebrating Another Magazine’s 10 year anniversary in February, ten of the world’s major fashion houses have each designed their ultimate fantasy cake. Curated by Jefferson Hack and artist, food stylist and cookery writer Annie Nichols this project will be on display as part of Eat the Designers in Selfridges’ Wonder Room Concept Store for one week commencing next Tuesday.

For Part 3 of AnOther Birthday Cake, Nichols’ visual and written diary provides an insight into her her daily visits to our talented cake makers.

Annie Nichols: “Our cake makers are working around the clock to get their cakes finished for next week's installation. Jellymongers and spectacular food creators Bompas & Parr are keeping their plans for the Lanvin cake under wraps – save for a few mouth-watering 'testing' pictures – but they assure me everything is going to plan. This week, I visited German-born Peggy Porschen, feted for her exquisite wedding cakes, who is working on Karl Lagerfeld's Chanel cake. I also had the pleasure of watching performance artist Caroline Hobkinson masterfully experimenting with (edible) colour palettes for her Missoni cake. Caroline always has brilliant ideas – last year, I went to one of her dinners where deserts hung from black balloons."
