What? An enchanting exhibition showcasing groundbreaking artworks from the renowned fashion illustrator that includes over 40 original illustrations for Christian Dior Parfums, vintage perfume bottles, sketches, magazines and poster adverts. The show also features a selection of exquisite Dior Haute Couture dresses personally selected by John Galliano including a special dress designed by Galliano himself, in homage to Gruau, as well as specially commissioned pieces from five of the UK’s most cutting-edge illustrators.

Why? Gruau’s striking and sophisticated illustrations are easily recognisable for their often exaggerated, beautiful, bold lines and fluid style. His work has had a lasting impact on the modern day fashion industry.

Where?Dior Illustrated: René Gruau and the Line of Beauty’ runs from 10th November 2010 – 9th January 2011 at Embankment Galleries, Somerset House.
