– Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicks off at the company’s new home, the Lincoln Center. Karl Lagerfeld will be in town for the re-opening of the Chanel boutique in SoHo.
Day 2: Friday September 10
– It's the second annual Fashion’s Night Out: Opening Ceremony is setting up a French flea market in the lobby of the Ace Hotel as the country-centric shopping Mecca announces France as its focus for 2010/11.
Day 3: Saturday September 11
– Band of Outsiders is showing what is sure to be another of its home-run presentations. Last season included autumnal leaves and a destroyed hotel room. What will spring/summer hold in store?
– The Carine Roitfeld-approved Joseph Altuzarra – quickly becoming one of NY’s talents to watch out for – closes the Saturday schedule with his show tonight.
Day 4: Sunday September 12
– American icon Tommy Hilfiger will be celebrating his company’s 25th anniversary with a blow-out show, followed by a party featuring a live set from The Strokes (shh!).
– Making everyone dizzy with anticipation, Tom Ford hosts private cocktails in his store to reveal his first womenswear collection.
– John Varvatos celebrates the tenth anniversary of his label with a night of rock at his 315 Bowery Boutique. Featuring a host of performances from legendary music icons, the evening kicks off with a cocktail hour premiering original Moonshine Clear Corn Whiskey, guaranteeing a night of hedonistic rock ‘n’ roll.
Day 5: Monday September 13
– Olivier Theyskens’s much talked-about capsule collection for high-street titan Theory has the first of its by-appointment-only press previews today. Since his departure from Nina Ricci early last year the designer has kept a low profile, and this is one comeback not to be missed.
Day 6: Tuesday September 14
– Mulberry continues its transatlantic presentation method by showing at Soho House NY today. They will then do it all over again in London the following week.
Day 7: Wednesday September 15
– Imitation of Christ, the much-revered brand from the early 00s fronted by Tara Subkoff, is back in its third reincarnation – Imitation.
Day 8: Thursday September 16:
– New York staples Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Oscar de la Renta bring New York Fashion Week to a classic close today, before everybody rushes off to make London for tomorrow’s first slew of shows.
