For the first Happy Monday of 2015, the AnOther team are delighted to present you with a collection paintings by the Cape-town based artist Lorraine Loots, discovered via her brilliant Instagram account. The sheer tininess of these astonishingly detailed pieces is utterly enchanting; they almost seem to have been produced by the hands of fairies. Loots painted a series of 365 miniscule art-works for this project – aptly entitled Painting for Ants – with one for each day of the year. She says, “I’ve always enjoyed documenting things – this gives me a way to make a mark on each day.” The playful subject matter ranges from infinitesimal foods to the littlest of landscapes, each guaranteed to cheer even the darkest of January days.
