Peep Shoe: 3.1 Phillip Lim

We take a look at 3.1 Phillip Lim's latest film, in collaboration with Dutch artists Lernert & Sander

The Peep Shoe project is available to view instore from December 18.

1. There are 52 bones in a pair of feet, which is a quarter of the human body. The average person will walk 115,000 miles in a lifetime – the equivalent of four times around the earth.

2. Jeison Orlando Rodriguez Hernandez from Venezuela holds the record for the world’s biggest feet, sizing up at 40.1cm for his right foot, and 39.6cm for the left.

3. Andy Warhol famously slept with a mummified human foot beside his bed.

4. Uma Thurman is a foot fetish pin-up, after her barefoot performances in Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill. It is perhaps no coincidence that director Quentin Tarantino is noted for his appreciation of feet.

5. Elvis Presley was a well-known practitioner of podophilia. His management would often screen women on the basis of their feet.

3.1 Phillip Lim has collaborated with Dutch artists Lernert & Sander for a new film to coincide with the Pre-Spring 2015 footwear launch. The amusing short depicts the life of a foot model, through the fictional voice of a foot. Aptly titled Peep Shoe, it will be available to watch in specially-designed booths in the London, New York and LA stores, playing on the age-old voyeuristic art of the peep show. In celebration of its release, we have put together five great facts on feet.
