S/S15 toughens up with utility pockets, putting a contrasting stamp across New York, London and Milan, as illustrated by Tom Baxter

Roger Moore wore them as he bounded through the 1970s as James Bond, Indiana Jones had several and Coco Chanel apparently loved them. The ever-practical utility pocket has been scattered throughout fashion week for S/S15. Starting out in New York accenting Marc by Marc Jacobs, Rag & Bone, Calvin Klein and Proenza Schouler, then flitting through Eudon Choi and Hunter in London in contrasting colours and sizes. "Utility pockets are a Hunter signature that represent the journey from young explorer in the back garden to experienced pioneers," explains Alasdhair Willis, creative director for Hunter. "They are an authentic detail referencing vintage outerwear pieces."

The workwear pocket appeared again in Milan, at Iceberg, Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo.  The utility style helped indicate a new aesthetic this season in Milan, which had replaced its customary sex appeal with a more considered style, referencing workwear and military design.
