Miuccia offends, Martin plays hide and seek, Kate smokes, Karl just is…we present a cartoonist's imagining of when the fashion gods were kids

Around this time last year, we decided to create a column that would start each week with a moment of joy and happiness. And so the AnOther Happy Monday was born, featuring everything from dogs on tables, cakes as art and hands as animals. Today, for the first instalment of 2014, we present When They Were Kids: witty and mischievous reimaginings of the childhood antics of some of our favourite fashion icons, as drawn by the Fashion Cartoonist. Ranging from an explanation for Suzy Menkes’ epic pompadour, through Martin Margiela’s unique way of playing hide and seek, to Roberto Cavalli’s first bit of leopard print and the first reactions to Miuccia Prada’s concept of ugly-chic, we hope these cartoons do something to alleviate the January blues.
