Good Things celebrates Christmas with a melange of festive ephemera from around the world

The big day is here at last so this week we celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with a little bit of foreign ephemera and a few things to make for your tree. Happy Christmas all!

Christmas Cards
The 1960s saw a revival of Christmas/New Year cards in Soviet Russia, newly allowed having been banned under Stalin. Festive iconography was back with vengeance, albeit with its own particularly communist bent. Space exploration and industrial development featured heavily alongside the more usual Santa and reindeer. There are some great collections here, here and here.

Festive Lego
Whatever your age it really wouldn't be Christmas without a smattering of Lego. Chris McVeigh, Lego creator extraordinaire, and Fungineering have created some brilliant festive ornaments for your tree. Who doesn't need a Lego turkey at this time of year? Christmas Stamps
Even if the card you are giving is a bit drab, at least you can dress up the envelope with a nice stamp. Our favourite Christmas stamp creator is Stefan Kanchev, a prolific and marvellous Bulgarian graphic designer. Visit his website for more of his delightful Christmas stamps.

Present & Correct is a design blog and stationery store in London founded by graphic designers Neal Whittington and Mark Smith.
