Station to Station: The Journey from Barstow to Oakland

The second film from AnOther's epic journey aboard the Station to Station train features Beck, Cat Power, Cold Cave and some breathtaking scenery in-between

The train journey has a long and fascinating history. As a form of transport it has been a popular subject of iconic films – such as Strangers on a Train and The Darjeeling Limited – and even the setting for fashion shows, most recently Louis Vuitton's A/W12 show incorporating real carriages and train-inspired attire. Last month, the train took on a new role as an artistic conduit, becoming the physical locale for Doug Aitkens' latest endeavour, Station to Station, a public art project made possible by Levi's.

Here, we present an exclusive film courtesy of Matt Black, captured as the train covered through last three points of its epic month-long, nine stop journey. Featuring Beck's energetic blast on his harmonica in the desert, breathtaking landscapes, candid moments with Cat Power and Cold Cave, and an acoustic, on-train set from Twin Shadow: this was our journey.
