Make your own Céline-inspired tapestry sewn iPhone case

Who? A Céline-inspired tapestry sewn iPhone case by regular AnOther contributor Nobuko Tannawa. “I was looking for an iPhone case and the first thing that came to my mind was Céline,” explains Tannawa. “I typed ‘cross-stitch iPhone case’ into ebay – I wasn't sure if such thing existed but it did! It's just a silicone case with lots of holes. I drew the pattern on a white graph paper with black and red and cross stitched onto the case. It took me a day to do it.”

"Phoebe Philo recreated the traditional laundry print bag for A/W13 enlarging, twisting and distorting the intricate blue, white and red weave across her designs"

What? Phoebe Philo recreated the traditional laundry print bag for A/W13 enlarging, twisting and distorting the intricate blue, white and red weave across wrap skirts, coats, funnel-neck tops and an array tote and clutch bags. Whether the print makes any symbolic subtle nod towards mass-production or not, its playful aesthetic has become instantly associated with the Céline label and acts as a humourous quirk amongst the season’s trends.

Why? The laundry motif was originally reinvented by Helmut Lang for S/S03, incorporated into his tailored skirts and jackets. Céline has revived the print for A/W13, proving that high fashion and beauty can be found in the mundane and everyday, with the imaginative, abstract elegance signature to the brand.
