AnOther speaks to menswear model of the moment Alexander Beck...

Alexander Beck was discovered in a bookstore in Cambridge in 2010 by renowned model scout Cesar Perin. Within a month Beck had traded his job at his local Blackpool fish shop for an exclusive booking for Prada A/W11 in Milan, before walking a further seven shows in Paris including Yves Saint Laurent, which he opened and closed.

Seven seasons later he is a staple face within the menswear collections. For S/S14 he opened Salvatore Ferragamo and walked for Fendi, Neil Barrett, Louis Vuitton and Valentino amongst others, as well as picking a girlfriend up in Paris along the way. Here, alongside exclusive pictures of Beck backstage with fellow models at the recent menswear shows, AnOther speaks to him about fashion week, home comforts and his personal style.

What was your favourite show this season?
They all start to merge into one, but Fendi was a good show this year, although it was a difficult walk as they had all this sand; they put metal stairs at the end and then sand so when you were walking up you had the slippiest shoes on and then you were also walking on sand and metal as well. It was a really nice show though.

What was the most interesting outfit you walked in this season?
A tie between J.W. Anderson and Junn J.

Did you have any previous interest in fashion before modelling?
I had zero interest. I still don’t really to be honest, I just happen to wear the clothes.

"I'm becoming vintage!"

Who are your favourite brands?
My favourite brands are those that book me! No, Hardy Amies is one my favourites. I don’t work with them very much anymore but they are still one of my favourite brands.

Did you meet a lot of the same people each season?
A hell of a lot of the same people. This season is a bit weird though as usually I would go into a casting and, as I’ve had a few seasons, I’d know a few people there. This season I would know like one or two… I was like where is everyone? Everybody is dropping off, I’m becoming vintage!

Has your personal style changed since you started?
It changes now and then, I never used to wear skinny jeans! I don’t really go with fashion trends – if I like something, I wear it. My floor is all clothes... I wake up and just put something on.

What do you miss most while you are away?
The weather, it’s a bit shit here and I like that. My dog and my car. I miss driving a lot when I’m away.
