With London celebrations, piercings, castings and men in shorts, the Another Man and AnOthermag.com team reflect on their personal highlights from the latest menswear shows...

Menswear spring/summer 2013 was an eclectic mix of short shorts – notably Hardy Amies – bold colour and oversized accessories. An underwater theme was carried forward from the womenswear SS13 shows, with repeated nautical colour palettes of navy, stark white and metallic. Louis Vuitton featured wet hair and anchor motifs while John Galliano presented fishing nets, mesh and lobsters. Elsewhere Acne and Calvin Klein embraced double-triple denim, Kenzo displayed an urban jungle and Dolce & Gabanna imported a Sicilian village. Here, the Another Man and AnOthermag.com team reflect on their personal highlights from the season...

Ben Cobb, editor: "In Milan, Dolce & Gabbana stole the show with some inspired casting. And, in Paris, Lanvin showed a collection of flawless metallic glamour."

Bryan McMahon, senior fashion editor: In London, my highlights were James Long for the music, Kung-Foo Cowboy by Alan Vega, and the skirt-shorts in japanese inspired fabrics. Dolce and Gabbana in Milan and Louis Vuitton in Paris - the cashmere scuba suits and the denim Boro kimono section. Another standout were the silk paisley printed pyjamas at Etro.

Tim Blanks, senior contributing editor: "No contest – I'm going to fly the flag and pick the men's shows in London as my highlight of S/S13. The whole event. I've been rabbiting on about "breadth and depth" for so long that it was thrilling to see them in all their glory: the anarchic head-rush of Sibling's catwalk debut, the restrained sensuality of Richard Nicoll's first collection for men, and everything in between. Plus parties. Best of all, those few days may have turned on a whole lot more people to join in next time."

Robbie Spencer, contributing fashion editor: "The Lanvin show was amazing, I loved the ear piercings, and the cut and shut hair cuts, skin head on the back and blunt bangs on the front. I also love the combination of snake skin and technical teflon fabrics used in the shirting and outerwear."

Joel Bough, fashion editor: "Dolce & Gabbana – So, basically they went to Sicily and pillaged an entire town for its male talent and took them all the way to Milan for a runway show. I'm already slow clapping, but then the fashion is all your Swept Away/holiday romance fantasies come true all in one collection. Mamma mia!

Laura Bradley, commissioning editor: "I really enjoyed the brilliant shorts offerings for the upcoming season, from those worn over lace leggings at Astrid Anderson in London to Raf Simons' in Paris. There was also lots of really exciting casting on display across the board – lots of tattoos, piercings and models of all ages. Really refreshing."

Agata Belcen, fashion editor: "I'm very partial to Dries menswear because I like the world that surrounds the collections."
