A preview of Serge Leblon's fashion story from the forthcoming issue of AnOther Man.

Serge Leblon and Bryan McMahon have been shooting fashion together since their darkly romantic collections story in Issue 6 of AnOther Man. For the forthcoming issue, out later this month, they met in a grand apartment in Paris to create a story about colour, print and living on the outskirts of society. Here we show a preview of what’s to come and Bryan McMahon tells us about the ideas behind the story.

Bryan McMahon: The next issue of AnOther Man is about outlaws, so we started by looking at young outcasts of society. I researched Mike Brodie’s photographs of homeless kids around America and Kaye Donachie, an artist who paints kids in squats – Donachie’s paintings are very similar to some of Serge’s work. The interiors he paints always look a bit rundown and that’s how we approached the location. We went for something that looked like an old house that squatters were living in – we found a Parisian apartment where a few rooms were painted in bright colours and the rest of it was beautiful rococo. Pierre Glanddier made vinyl backdrops printed with business cityscapes to add to the weird sense of not knowing where these boys really were, or where they came from. I wanted everything to be hyper-real, for it to be an acid army of boys, but we toned it down to be more believable, and I picked models who weren’t too beautiful, but more like characters. Like Mayfair squatters.
