From his very first fashion shoot in the February issue of Vogue Paris in 1955 the sensational photographer Guy Bourdin has built a reputation for being one of the most provocative and compelling image-makers of our time. Turning conventional commercial photography on its head he exceeded expectation creating radical and often controversial images. Pushing the limits of fashion photography, In Between delves into a career that spanned four decades, charting the journey of his artistic development from the 1950s to the 1980s. With over 200 images in black and white and colour this monograph displays many of the original editorial layouts published in magazines from British and French Vogue to Harper's Bazaar. A narrator of fantastic ‘mise en scène’ and a choreographer of the magazine page this book celebrates the meticulous master who altered the landscape of fashion and photography for generations to follow. Both seductive and sinister, sensual and shocking, Bourdin’s unique vision continues to resonate, influencing many of today’s most celebrated fashion and fine art photographers.
