Today we feature an exclusive clip from the elegiac documentary on German sculptor Anselm Kiefer, entitled Over Your Cities Grass Will Grow. Directed by Sophie Fiennes – whose last documentary, A Pervert's Guide to Cinema featured philosopher Slavoj Zizek and next will trace the life of Grace Jones – it’s a sweeping tour around a derelict silk factory in France, a "town" Kiefer created to house his sculptures. Her camera floats around the underground pools, tunnels and studios, observing the artist smashing glass, flinging paint and pouring molten metal, so that the alchemical process of creating his phenomenal sculptures is revealed right before our eyes.
Over Your Cities Grass Will Grow is released on Friday 15th October.
