Good Things puts your head in a creatively tidy place with a celebration of the best artistic grids

If there was a month for grids then January would be it. The New Year brings with it a desire to organise, list and restructure. Here are some beautiful examples of grids, to make you feel neat and tidy.

Artist Daniel Everett loves a grid. As a result, we love Daniel Everett. See more of his work here.

Johann Besse takes photos of ordinary tower blocks but turns them into elegant, Le Witt-like monoliths.

It goes without saying that the end results of origami are wonderful, but it just so happens that the crease instruction guides are pretty special too.

Karen Barbé is a constant source of grid based eye candy. Her meticulous cross stitch patterns will please and her paper weaving experiments will delight.

Robert Swain has been painting blocks and grids since the 60s, exploring colour interaction over his massive canvases.

Our current favourite pattern wizard is Sigrid Calon. Her risograph creations all stem from the same basic grid, the permutations are endless.
